Wow, this was a very powerful chapter! The vivid descriptions of the battle lust, and the terror of Nazgúl... Ah, I must read what comes next!
Author's Response: So glad you liked the details of this chapter! I did try to write it so you could almost hear the clash of swords--and yes, so you'd want to keep on to see what happens. :) Thanks for the review! |

Oh, I nearly cried when Elrond got all choked up, seriously! That's the one character I will cry if they cry. Don't ask me why, I just do. That phrase "My son came home and I almost let him die" oh my gsh, talk about heartrendering! I love the interactions between Elrond and Aragorn. I love it so much, I demand you write Elrond more in the future. I command it! I love the interactions between Halbarad and Aragorn. It really showed the deep friendship between them with the varied emotions. Loving this so much! Oh that last line was so perfect! I adored it! More!
Author's Response: Yes, ma'am! *saluting and getting out my Elrond Plot Bunny folder* Seriously, thank you--I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter; definitely a lot of heartrending things going on between them, and more still to come. And Halbarad, the poor man, waking up to find out Aragorn had nearly died--little wonder he threw a bit of a fit and demanded total honesty from here on out. And you know, I think he'll get it, too. ;) Thanks for the review and glad you enjoyed this chapter. |

...Galadh! :) "like a good little chieftain" Sweet! At least Bilfen is alive, he seems like a regular fellow from the way how Aragorn was remembering him and from this chapter. And Halbarad is again very good and loyal friend: "Even if that means risking harm at your own hand, I will do my duty."
Author's Response: Yay, you remembered Galadh! He's so quiet that he's easy to miss. *grin* I'm glad you liked this chapter... yes, Bilfen is a very regular kind of man, kind and fatherly who takes great pride in helping Aragorn and his Rangers when he can. And yes, Halbarad takes his duties very seriously, placing them above even his friendship with Aragorn. Glad you enjoyed this chapter and thanks for the review! |

YAAAAAAY!!!! GO ELROND GO!!!! "cheers loudly" Ah, if only you could see me waving me arms around all happily, you would laugh! I loved the nightmare, oh gosh that was so good. I don't know if you intended this or not, but the part where Aragorn was afraid to come up from the water, the fear of what lay above the surface...It really alluded to that scene in "Unfinished Tales" Where isildur is trying to hide in the river from the Orcs. I don't know if you meant to allude to tht or not, but I thought it was really neat. Ah, I'm so relieved Elrond could help. Yay for Elrond, gandalf, and Erestor! REALLY awesome chapter. I loed it!
Author's Response: LOL! I'm laughing just at the image of you as the head cheerleader on the Elrond Cheering Squad. *grin* I'm glad you liked this, and no, I hadn't planned on alluding to the Isildur scene--how interesting is that?? I've yet to realy read UT except for a few snippets about Aragorn. So that one was quite by accident. Glad you liked the chapter and thanks for the review (and Elrond sends his thanks for the cheers). |

Oh! This was very much worth the wait to read. Forgive the lateness in getting back to your wonderful story. I LOVE your Gandalf. I have to say he is a character I am VERY picky about how he is portrayed and you did a wonderful job. I love how Gandalf speaks of the entire situation and Aragorn being a piece of a greater picture. I think that is the thing I love most about Tolkien, so much is connected, and I think you've illustrated that beautifully here. Oh my! Aragorn is in trouble again! You evil woman. :-) Now I can't resist reading on! Now I REALLY wonder what's happened to poor Aragorn! Again, fabulous chapter. Each one seems to go from strength to strength.
Author's Response: Thank you, Roisin! I'm so glad you liked my take on Gandalf--I know he's one of your favorites. :) He's definitely the one that sees the big picture as its unfolding, isn't he. And yes, Aragorn's still very much in trouble. Glad you enjoyed the chapter and thank for the review--and of course, read at your own pace. I'm not standing by with a stopwatch, tapping my foot. *grin* |

All the suspense... and then this! That's so sad... I like that you gave Aragorn's companions background and personality, a few chapters and I'll remember their names ;) Denlad, Eledh... hm... next time, maybe :)
Author's Response: Thank you, Mirach! I like to use original characters and make them as real and three-dimensional as possible, so I'm glad you like them. Yes, the names are a little tricky, but you've about got it! :) |

I remembered this quote when reading this chapter: "And indeed the love that the horses of the Rangers bore for their riders was so great that they were willing to face even the terror of the Door, if their masters’ hearts were steady as they walked beside them." And the Nazgúl's footprints are really creepy, I wonder when he will show up, and what he wanted in that village.
Author's Response: It seems odd to say glad I creeded you out, but I am. :) And yes, don't you love the horses in Tolkien? They really are characters unto themselves. The horses here were a little skittish about the smell of death, and likely the nervousness of their riders transmitted itself to them. Amazing how animals sense that sort of mental energy, isn't it? |

A very nice chapter, but I have the feeling that the light-hearted tune foretells troubles in near future... Your Halbarad is very agreeable, I like that guy!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you like my take on Halbarad... he's definitely a stalwart friend, if a little heavy-handed as a healer. ;) Thanks for the review! |

Bearing so many sorrows, taking two watches... Halbarad is right, this is not good for Aragorn.
Author's Response: Wow, you're reading fast. :) Yes, Aragorn should really listen to Halbarad's worries... he knows his Chieftain has too much on his plate. Thanks for the review! |

A touching beginning, first the mention of Mallor in the letter, and now this. The fate can be cruel, can't it?
Author's Response: It definitely can be, especially with the hard lives that the Dunedain led. Death was something that likely occured far too often, and likely wasn't anything Aragorn ever reconciled himself to accepting. And it's doubly hard when it's the youngest like that. Thanks for the review! |

Oh Blast! I almost want to smack Aragorn for being so bull headed! I liked the images of his old room, the contrasts of it and the world outside of Rivendell. I loved seeing Aragorn's reaction when he hears Halbarad will be alright. His worry for his friend is incredibly endearing, and you've shown how much he truly cares for his friend. I love your Gandalf too! So very glad to see you include him! YAY!!!! "does a happy dance" Oh, I do hope Gandalf gets through to Aragorn somehow, but I can sense more wonderfully written angst on the horizon. :-)
Author's Response: Thanks, Roisin! I'm glad you liked this chapter and all it's angsty moments. Aragorn's really having a time of it, and yes, being incredibly stubborn. But you know, it's very hard to fool an Istari for long. And yes, the friendship between Aragorn and Halbarad goes very deep, I think; probably even deeper than between brothers. So yeah, his relief is huge! Thanks for the review and enjoy the upcoming events! :) |

It's great. Is there some more Estel-Elrond interaction? Want more...want my precioussss (story)...OUR precioussss
Author's Response: Thank you, Turwaith... your reviews always make me smile. :) And yes, there's one more chapter, and then the epilogue and this part of Aragorn's life will have some resolution. So that will come next Monday and Thursday. And then I better get busy on the other stories I have waiting! Thanks again for all your reviews! |

Please...one more chapter as an easter present? Please? Pretty Please? Pretty Please with cherries on top? *beg*
Author's Response: LOL... I'm sorry, but it'll have to be a day-after-Easter present. I just won't have time this weekend to get the next one up. But Monday morning, unless storms knock my Internet connection down. I'm glad you're anxious to keep reading, though! Thanks for the review. :) |
