I am so captivated by your story, I have yet to take a breath or write a review. I have to work so early, but will be back tomorrow night to this wondrous tale.

You are an amazing writer. I hope you continue your stories.

Author's Response:

Thank you, sidh!  I'm so glad you're enjoying this.  I have been continuing writing, though the pace is slower than it's been in the past, due to real-life issues. Even if all I manage is a sentence a day, I don't think I could ever completely stop writing LOTR fic. :)

(And I must ask: is your "Sid Halley" a reference to the Dick Francis character, or is that simply a coincidence?  I adore Dick Francis mysteries and the Sid Halley ones especially!)

I actually wanted to finish this chapter and go to sleep, but the last sentence made me reconsider - if Aragorn can stay awake, so can I :) I admire your care for detail, I would never have the idea to describe the warmth of the saddle, it make the story feel vey realistic. Do you have a horse?

Author's Response:

Thank you!  I'm glad I kept you up late!  No, I don't have a horse, but I've been around them a bit... my friend raises them, and where I live a lot of people have them.  And I enjoy reading Westerns! LOL  So I've picked up enough knowledge to be dangerous. ;)

Thanks for the review!

Oh, these really are bad news:(

You know, I just realized you totally nailed a character I always liked about Aragorn, even if I wasn't aware of it (much). For him, everything is personal. He's not just going around saving people and kicking the villain's butt. He's helping *his* people. People he knows by name, and if he doesn't knows their name he berates himself that he should. Definitely something I like about him, even if that particular character traits gives him nothing but heartache right now!

Author's Response: Thank you, Michelle!  I definitely see Aragorn as a hands-on leader, one who knows his people as well as he possibly can, especially his fighting men, and like you say, finds out names of those he doesn't know any time he can.  It's one of those characteristics that's both a strength and a weakness for him, because it really can cause heartache.  I imagine that might be a problem for him when he becomes King of a much larger realm... no way, probably, for him to really get personal with the people of Gondor.  But I bet he tries anyway. ;)   Thanks for the review!

More wonderful writing! This is angst at it's finest here. The emotions are genuine, and not conrived, this feels real, and was that much more enjoyable to read because of that.

I really do feel for Aragorn, but now I really wonder, and fear, for what might be coming his way! Oh no!

Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response:

This was probably one of the darkest and hardest chapters for me to get right--or to get the way I saw it in my head--so I'm glad it read well for you.  I can't imagine the sadness Aragorn has to deal with as Chieftain and as healer when peopel and especially children die under his hands.

And yes, the story will be picking up the pace quite a bit from here on out.  Hang onto your seat. *grin*  Thanks for the review!
