I have read this so many times and it just gets better. I wish you would do a prequel about Legolas being so tired and overwrought, it would be wonderful to have more of the "SPIDER" story.

I really really need to get back to reading and reviewing prompts. And as we just discussed that the time for reading fic is scarce (especially *long* fic), I decided prompt fics were in order! I think whenever we're talking about strong emotions (like the friendship you describe here), a conscious choice doesn't come into play. You can't just decide to befriend someone or keep away from him. And even when you think about what losing that person one day might mean, the here and now usually more than makes up for it. It would be cowardly to run away from a friendship for these reasons. And Legolas certainly is no coward:)
Author's Response: LOL! That they're usually short is one of the many good things about prompt fics, isn't it? You can always read them as some kind of in-between snack. *g* I agree completely - where friendship or love are concerned, conscious choice doesn't play much of a role. It's not a matter of mind, but a matter of heart (though I'm sure Thranduil, as a worried father, would very much like it to be different ;-). And if you have such a strong bond to another person, it's usually worth every problem and pain that come along with it. No, Legolas would certainly never refuse such a gift just to escape possible pain. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! :) |

a friendship more than worthy of them.
Author's Response: Thank you! :) And, once again, thank you so much for all your reviews! |

and you thought the one before this dealt with conquering the fear, here is fear-- fear that you failed a friend. and thank eru for another friend reaching into the darkness to remind you to look to the light.
Author's Response: It is a very different kind of fear Legolas has to deal with in this story, but probably even worse than the fear Estel had to face in the last chapter. Friends like that are really infinitely precious, and quite rare. :) |

yes fight the fear and you will survive the darkest night.
Author's Response: Fear is always the worst foe, but fortunately Estel proved to be stronger than his fear. :) |

and boromir waited to die until aragorn was there, even not knowng,,,thank you.
Author's Response: Boromir's fate always saddens me, but at least he did not die alone. Thank you so much for your review! :) |

no sacrifice too big for that little sweetheart. good story, i like the way you let estels mind drift from present to past to future and never make him seem flighty,
Author's Response: I think Estel would be willing to do almost anything for those he cares for. I'm very happy you liked this story! :) |

had there been guns in the house he would have been the one learining it was loaded... always worrying ahead.
Author's Response: Very probable. I'm glad they at least didn't have guns in Middle-earth! It would certainly have caused lots of additional worrying. |

good byes are so bad and i like the namarie ideal but i think stealing the horse shows guts. ps i love that he'll try to grow older while leggys away.
Author's Response: Having to say goodbye is always a sad thing, especially if you have to part from someone you love. I think stealing that horse shows guts, too (especially considering that it was a big stallion *g*). I'm glad you liked the part about Estel trying to get older while Legolas is away, it was fun to write. ;-) |

some times hope isn't just his name. and you make that believable.
Author's Response: I agree completely - with Estel, hope is very often so much more than just a name. I'm very glad you thought it to be believable! I'm glad you liked it! :) |

now there is a sight that would make a wonderful wonderful bedside photo. peace.
Author's Response: I would really like to have a bedside photo of the two of them sitting there like that, too! ;-) It must have been such a cute and peaceful sight. I'm very glad you liked it! :) |

i think one of the problems most of us have is relating big and little a spider in your bathroom the size of a dinner plate is smallish to me but in my bathroom anything bigger that a teaspoon is gigantic. nearly asleep and already woked up about spiders by his brother that thing may have seemed bigger than the house. amped up on adreniline and ready to take on a horse sized foe it might seem a tad undersized.
Author's Response: Wow, thank you so much for reading and reviewing so many of my stories! Finding so many reviews waiting for me in my inbox really makes my day. ;-) You're right, I think a normal-sized spider would already appear gigantic to me in my bathroom, just because it were sitting in my bathroom. I believe for poor Estel, the spider must have definitely appeared like a giant threat, while Legolas certainly saw things from an entirely different perspective. *g* |

*awwwww* Another adorable horse. I can practically see Tuilinn playing along with Estel's hair-brained plan (though, admittedly, it's quite elaborate idea for such a young boy, but that's our little hero)!
Author's Response: *grins* Tuilinn and Mouse both certainly have very... distinctive... personalities, don't they? LOL. I've really grown fond of Tuilinn by now. As a child, I once tried to hide my mother's car keys to keep her from leaving, so I thought Estel might have come up with a similar plan (though stealing a horse is admittedly far more difficult than stealing car keys, but at least the horse was playing along *g*). I'm glad you liked the story and Tuilinn! Thanks a lot for your review! :) |

That was very well written. I would love to read a sequel where they make it back. It would be awesome to see how Estel deals with a wounded Legolas (mother henning?) and with his own guilt.
Author's Response: Hm, a sequel sounds like a very interesting idea. I will have to think about that (and start searching for a suitable plotbunny). Thank you for the inspiration! And thank you very much for another review! :) Tinu |

I have been horse back riding for 7 years so I too have my fair share of squished toes and can sympathize with your plight. Poor Legolas...and I don't how much protesting his shoes with offer.
Author's Response: Luckily I only had a horse standing on my toe once, it was memorable enough. ;-) I'm afraid Legolas' shoes won't help much, considering that Tuilinn is a big stallion - hopefully he will be so happy about seeing Estel again that he forgets about squishing any toes for a while. Hehe. Thank you a lot for reviewing! :) Tinu |
