... I so wanted to go to bed early, but then I made the mistake of clicking on this tiny harmless looking quote on the main site..., and that was it for a while :-). I really enjoyed your short stories - especially since you found so many different ways to show many different aspects of Aragorn's and Legolas' friendship, without it ever getting boring or repetitous.

Author's Response:

Hi! :) I apologize for the late reply - I'm in the process of moving at the moment and things are a bit crazy around here. I'm very happy that you enjoyed my collection of short stories! I tried very hard to keep the stories from getting boring or repetitious and I'm glad I seem to have succeeded.  Hehe, I've been kept from going to bed early by stumbling over a fanfic story, too, but it's wonderful to hear that about one of *my* stories. ;-) Thank you so much for reading and reviewing my stories!

Tinu :)

Oh yeah...I lead the singing at my church and believe me, Tinu, it is absolutely GOD that I am able to get up there in front of all those people (on a microphone, for pete's sake!) and sing!  So I most definitely can sympathize with Legolas here.  Yay for Aragorn standing beside him while he waits for his call.  I wasn't sure what you had planned for the Prince, though.  I though maybe there was some big gathering with dancing, and there was whole band of rabid females in attack mode, waiting for him to come out!  LOL  Hey, wait just a minute!  Where was Thranduil?  Huh?  OOOOOOH, another bunny just hopped by....  *runs after the bunny...come here, furface!  I have to send you to a very deserving author...*

Linda

Author's Response:

I do believe you! I can very much sympathize with Legolas, too! I really dislike having to do anything in front of a big audience. :P Hehe, many readers thought he was going to get married. LOL at "rabid females in attack mode"! I think Thranduil was right there, but for some reason it was Legolas' duty to hold that specific speech - or perhaps the king was in Laketown attending trade negotiations? Perhaps I should ask him some day. *g*

*hears the word "bunny", runs and hides* :D

Thank you for all your reviews, I'm very happy that you enjoy all these stories so much! :)

*BIG sigh*  These two friends are so very good for each other.  They know each other's strengths and weaknesses; they are strong, loyal and steadfast and more than willing to take on each other's pain.  I love it!

And I love this little collection of stories, Tinu!  *sends Tinu a huge chocolate sundae with lots of whipped cream and cherry on top, along with another pesky bunny*  *stands at attention and seriously states, "It is a well-known medical fact that only chocolate will counteract the bite of a rabid plotbunny."*  *giggles*  NOT!

Linda

Author's Response:

I'm quite sure they would never survive without each other, and apart from that they are so sweet together! *takes any excuse she can get to hug her elf and ranger* I really love writing about their friendship, so I'm glad that you love the way I do it. ;-)

*sits down to feast on chocolate sundae and tries to ignore another bunny latching on to her ankles* I will have to test that theory very thoroughly! *munches happily on chocolate sundae* OUCH!!! *swats at bunny* There are entirely too many bunnies around here - I wonder where they come from? *glares suspiciously at very innocent looking Linda* Hehe! Thank you for yet another review! :)

Big brother Legolas is very appealing, Tinu!  And Estel, with his eyes older than his young years was very sad!  I loved the beginning, where Legolas wakes to hear the song and knows that the trees are rejoicing in the much needed water (and the thought that the Prince of the Realm usually made his way outside to sing with the trees was wonderfully elvish!)  I'm so glad Estel had his friend to stand by him when the memories became too much for him.

Linda   (in response to your disclaimer, Tinu...perhaps if you grayed your hair or took to smoking a pipe and looking scholarly and professorish.....)   :-)

Author's Response:

Wouldn't you love to have Legolas as a big brother? It would be SO nice to be little Estel... or Estel, where this story is concerned. *g* I think Estel really has been through a lot already, for his age. I really enjoyed writing the beginning, Legolas' connection with nature always fascinates me. I think Estel was very glad, too, thought he tried so hard to be brave. *huggles soon-to-be-ranger and elf* Your reviews are really uplifting, you know? :) Thank you very much for leaving me lots of these wonderful, sweet little reviews, lol!

Tinu (hm - do you think I could dump the disclaimer then? In that case I might try... Hehe.)

lwarren08/14/06 02:54 am4: RiddlesAnonymous

*giggles*  Poor elf!  Why indeed does an elf who travels with a ranger always end up in a cave?  Inquiring minds want to know!  :-)  I liked your portrayal of Legolas girding himself to face the long dark of Moria, and the way Aragorn recognizes it and offers his own comfort to his friend.  Nice, Tinu, very nice!  (Tell the elf I would go with him into a cave anytime, anywhere! LOL  I'm sure that will relieve his mind...or make him lose it! *g*)

Linda (la-la-lalalalala....)

Author's Response:

LOL - since I've written that story I've been asked this question quite often. Perhaps I should write a sequel and force Aragorn to answer the question. *g* I think the time in Moria must have been very difficult for Legolas - in the books, he really wasn't eager to go there. And of course Aragorn knows what his friend is going through. *sigh* The two of them are just sweet, and a joy to write about. (LOL, I'm sure hearing that will make Legolas feel so much better! Do you think I could come along, too? *giggle*) Thank you so much for another review! :)

Tinu (are you imitating a singing Legolas here? *g*)

lwarren08/14/06 02:49 am3: Shards and ShadowAnonymous

Oh yeah!  ' "Light can shine through darkness and shadows, but darkness cannot enter into light." '  That's right!!  You tell him, Legolas!  This is another good example of the self-doubt that seemed to plague Aragorn for most of his adult life.  I recognize this little moment from the movie - I think Legolas had the right idea of sending Aragorn off to meet Arwen for a little smooching on that lovely bridge in all that soft, misty moonlight!  LOL  Seriously, this friendship is so strong - I am glad Legolas can read his human friend so well!  And Aragorn will eventually begin to believe that whatever comes, he will not face it alone.  Great storylet, Tinu!

Linda  :-)

Author's Response:

Isn't it strange that only the really good people tend to be plagued by self-doubt? Aragorn is not only a good man, he also has an intimidating responsibility, so I guess he's entitled to having lots of self-doubts. ;-) It's quite obvious that this guy needs a good friend to hammer some sense into his head from time to time. *g* I like the idea of Legolas sending Aragorn off to meet Arwen. ;-) I think if Aragorn would try to face any upcoming dangers alone, Legolas would probably be the first to kill him. LOL! I'm glad you enjoyed my gapfiller! Thank you very much for another review! :)

lwarren08/14/06 02:41 am2: A small ProblemAnonymous

*raises hand and jumps up and down*  I volunteer!  I'll do it! I'll go and find them!  Ok, so I would only end up getting lost - but I could keep them company...No?  Oh, all right!  So, how did they get home?  No wait...HOW ON ARDA DID THEY GET LOST IN THE FIRST PLACE?  Estel has a point, you know...of all the beings, these two ought to be able to find their way around!  LOL  Wonderful little tidbit, Tinu!  It just begs for a sequel...*shoos bunny towards Tinu*  "Go on, little furry beast...be a pest until she writes how the lost were found...or rescued...or immortalized in elven song!"  hehehehehe  (feeling rather silly tonight...sorry you must be the one to suffer....hehehehehe)

Linda

Author's Response:

LOL -I think our two heros would really prefer to be found by you instead of, for example, the twins. *g* Somehow I have a feeling they needed a long time to get home. Don't ask me how they managed to get lost, I have no clue. That was a really, really strange bunny. ;-) Eek, another bunny! *tries to shake bunny from her toe* Be a nice bunny - OUCH! *runs in circles being closely followed by a certain little furry beast* :D

P.S. I do not mind silliness. *g* Thank you very much for reviewing, I'm glad you liked this strange little story! :)

'"Could you not once find a safe, peaceful forest to dwell in?" Elessar asked..."There are no spiders here," Legolas offered weakly.'  LOL  Bless his sweet elven heart, lying amidst orc corpses and bleeding to death and he tries to ease his friend's fear with a joke!  It seems the Prince makes a habit of this - perhaps Elessar should just take him back to Minas Tirith and lock him in a room where he would be safe.  Naaah, Legolas would probably fall out of a window or or choke on a grape or something!  :-)  I liked this, Tinu - just wish I could have seen the battle!  I do love it when the elf gets down with his knives!  *clears throat*  (Uh, so sorry - temporary lapse into extreme elf-worship...pardon me!)

Linda  :-)

Author's Response:

LOL - it's so much like Legolas, isn't it? Always thinking about his friends, even when he is more dead than alive. He really needs a good healer as a best friend. *g* Hehe, perhaps Aragorn will really try to lock him into a room if it goes on like that - I'd definitely like to see him trying. Well, he could also trip over Gimli's axe and hit his head on the edge of a table or something... *g* I guess it's quite hopeless to try and keep the elf safe until there are such nice fanfic authors as you and me. *eg* I think this was written at a time when I still avoided battle-scenes like the plague, but I've written some since then - I love to see the elf in action, too! ;-) You are talking to a person who is VERY tolerant of extreme elf-worship, lol - in fact, I tend to suffer from it, too. I'm glad you enjoyed the story, thank you very much for reviewing! :)

Ah, so you made this into a series of short stories. Very nice, and I like the title a lot!

Author's Response: Yes, I thought posting them as a collection makes more sense than flooding my profile. ;-) I'm glad you like the title, I needed about two weeks to come up with it - all the other titles I came up with were already used by other authors. :P But I'm quite happy with that title now, too. Btw - I posted the special extended versions of the stories here, I think I shortened them a bit too much on Aragornangst. ;-)

RESCUED BY ARAGORN,  i hardly ever call him elessar.  prefer estel actually.  does elessar mean elfstone?

Author's Response: Yes, Elessar means elfstone. It was Aragorn's new name after he had become king. In post-RotK fics I sometimes use it, and sometimes ignore it, whatever I feel like doing. :) Thank you for your review!
