What strange things names and titles are. How defining - and yet, essentially no more the mist that obscures Estel/Aragorn's vision here. He is so much more than a name, but he has yet to realize that. This is a lovely capture of his youthful insecurity in that place between two worlds he knows, yet no longer inhabits one and does not yet fit into the other. That is a lonely, lonely place to be and you've portrayed it beautifully.
I hope this story is finished and just being posted chapter by chapter!
Author's Response: Thank you very much for the review! You are very right about the mist, and that "He is so much more than a name, but he has yet to realize that". We will see that realization later in the story. And yes, it is finished, and I will post it as regularly as I can. |
