Sad... but: I think it's very telling that even in this situation Aragorn sees only the good in Boromir and not the bad. He's not condemning him, rather he's elevating him. Typical Aragorn:)
Author's Response: Well, Boromir realized his mistake and he fought very bravely in the end; I will never see him as bad guy.
This is a sad moment, yes. I tried to give some explanation why Aragorn would take vambraces, and this one seemed logical. ;)
