There can't ever be enough written about this topic (and still it's rarely touched upon). If you try, you can easily overlook these issues, because 1) this is a fantasy setting and you don't need to apply your own reality where you don't want to and 2) Tolkien often makes it easy for us by inventing a black/white world where you actually need not feel (and should not feel) remorse after killing an orc/warg/evil immortal wizard. So I think it "enhances" the characters and settings to go and make this moral question and issue and have Aragorn struggle with it. Well done! |
