More...want more^^ I love your story, it somehow seems more real than all the others. Please hurry with writing the next chapter *plead, plead*?
Author's Response: Thank you, Turwaith! I'm glad you find my story realistic... that is what I strive to do: make a story vivid and detailed and plausible. So to hear you say that makes me very glad. :) And more will be coming Monday! :) |

More amazing angst! I really feel for Aragorn. I wish I could hug him, and not to mention fix his wounds! The poor guy! I love your Erestor too. I'll have to make sure Eli reads this chapter, he'll be thrilled Erestor is in here. I really do love how you write your Elves. I feel so bad for Halbarad, he got knocked around pretty good didn't he? I hope he'll be alright! I am really enjoying this. Sorry I've been getting so very behind on my reading. It was well worth the wait though!
Author's Response: Thanks! Again, glad you liked this chapter... and don't worry about being behind; to me, it's interesting to hear from readers who are reading larger chunks of the story at a stretch instead of just one chapter at a time (I'm really anxious to hear from some of those I know are waiting to read the thing in its entirety... I want to know how it holds up as a complete "novel"). Anyway, yes, Aragorn's really at the breaking point... or nearly. Even though Elrond is too busy with Halbarad, at least he had Erestor to give him just enough comfort to get him by a bit longer, but he really does need his father, doesn't he? I'm glad you like my version of the Rivendell Elves. I'm trying hard to make them unique from all the other versions of them out there... there's similarities of course because of canon but I do hope I've put my own spin on them. Update coming soon... probably Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for the review! |

Yay! They made it to Rivendell. I do hope Halbarad will be alright. This was some wonderful angst, lemme tell you that! Grade A angst for sure! I particularly liked Aragorn's concern for his friend, and also how you wove in the necklace halbarad got his wife in that short story you wrote awhile back. I liked the connection. I also liked how your Elrond greeted Aragorn, very much how I also envision Elrond. Great writing, and I look forward to reading more!
Author's Response: Thanks, Roisin! Glad you liked this chapter! Yep, plenty of angst to go around in this one--it was such a harrowing ride, and did Aragorn's own health no good, but he did get Halbarad to Elrond. I'm glad my vision of Elrond is similar to yours... in reading the books, you have to see that Elrond has a deep love for Aragorn, and I like to explore that in all its facets, even when they occasionally don't communicate as well as they should for whatever reason. I'm glad you're enjoying the story and thanks for the reviews you're leaving! Always an encouragement. :) |

I absolutely LOVE your Glorfindel. You write him very well too! I feel so much for Halbarad though! You had me scared! I do hope they will make it to Rivendell safe and sound! This was yet another amazing, gripping chapter.
Author's Response: Ooh, glad you like my Glorfindel! I had a LOT of fun writing that scene--I definitely see him as an Elf with quite a sense of humor. How could you not, if you've already tasted death and lived to tell the tale? And yes... hard ride to Rivendell ahead. Thanks for the kind words! |

Ack!! A cliffhanger!!!! Ok, for awhile there, I thought Aragorn was going to be captured by the Nazgul! I'm also enjoying the banter between Halbarad and Aragorn, oh my, those two! I love how you write your action sequences too!
Author's Response: Yeah, I'm afraid cliffhangers will abound from here on out! LOL But I'm glad you liked the chapter... no, Aragorn didn't get captured by the Nazgul--he's got enough troubles without something like that happening! Yikes. I'm glad you like the action... I probably enjoy writing action scenes far too much. ;) Thanks for the review! |

I love it!!! Want more... No honestly, it's great. I like your way of writing Elrond. I seem to never really grasp his character, when I write fanfiction. Hurry with the next chapter...please?
Author's Response: Thank you, Turwaith! I'm glad you're enjoying the story! Elrond is a bit of a challenge, especially for someone like me who prefers the book version of him over the movie version. It's hard to get "movie Elrond" out of my head when I try to write his character. Next chapter hopefully will go up at the end of this week. Thank you for taking time to leave such a kind review! |

More wonderful writing! This is angst at it's finest here. The emotions are genuine, and not conrived, this feels real, and was that much more enjoyable to read because of that. I really do feel for Aragorn, but now I really wonder, and fear, for what might be coming his way! Oh no! Can't wait for the next chapter!
Author's Response: This was probably one of the darkest and hardest chapters for me to get right--or to get the way I saw it in my head--so I'm glad it read well for you. I can't imagine the sadness Aragorn has to deal with as Chieftain and as healer when peopel and especially children die under his hands. And yes, the story will be picking up the pace quite a bit from here on out. Hang onto your seat. *grin* Thanks for the review! |

Another fabulous chapter! Forgive the lateness in reading and reviewing. But the wait to read this was well worth it! I like your dialogue during the arguement between Denlad and Aragorn, and then between Halbarad and Aragorn. I felt it was very realistic how people would argue. That is horrible for the people of Windthale, and poor Aragorn, I want to give him a hug! I loved seeing your Elrohi and Elladan. I love how you write them. I also love how you portray Aragorn angry. I think you do it in a way that is still true to the character. I've gained a whole new appreciation for Halbarad and Aragorn's friendship after reading your stories. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to reading the next chapter!
Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked this chapter! And no worries about lateness... I'm just glad you found some time to enjoy getting caught up. I'm especially glad that this story is helping you gain a greater appreciation of Halbarad and Aragorn's friendship...I do think that's one of the more neglected relationships in the fandom and I'm glad to do my part to help fill that niche. And for me, characterization is everything, so it's also nice to hear you feel I've captured all the men (and half-Elves!) in a true light. Thanks for the review! |

I wish I could give Aragorn a big hug right about now. It would seem that the nazgul has worked a great deal of evil. I like everything you did with the chains, the nightmare, Aragorn's worries about Elrond not welcoming him home. I'm really wondering what is going to happen. I also liked your descriptions of the tension in the room, as well as the snow storm. I really really like your Halbarad. Will we get to see the twins anytime soon, Elladan and Elrohir? So very excited to read more son!
Author's Response: Thank you, Roisin! Yes, events have done a number on Aragorn. I'm sure he would like a hug, although as prickly as he is at the moment, he might just shake you off and tell you "I'M FINE!!!" LOL Glad you're enjoying all the character interactions. And yes, where are those pesky twins when you need them??? Thanks again for the review! |

I really lked this chapter, it had a lttle bit of everything; some suspense, some mystery, some drama, and even some fun! Again, I really love your OCs, and I loved the glimpse into Denlad's life too. I like the attraction between Denlad and Neala. This is really great, you played it out well. It satisfied the romantic in me. :-) But I got some god suspense and mystery out of it too. I do hope Aragorn gets help for that bruise. Something about that gives me the heebie jeebies, and I worry for him. I'm loving this story. Eli is too. Seriously, I would pay money for this if it was a book at the bookstore. I love it. I love your Aragorn so much! Keep up the wonderful work, this story is so amazing. It as something for everyone. And I LOVE that i can connect to your characters.
Author's Response: Thank you, Roisin! I'm glad you like the crazy mix this chapter was... part romance, part suspense, part just "the guys" interacting. And yes, all of Aragorn's problems... I can't convince him he needs to go to Rivendell and neither can Halbarad. Stubborn Ranger! I'm glad you like all of it enough to pay money for it... if only, eh! Maybe someday I'll have a book of my own in the stores for you to buy. You can then say you "knew me when". LOL Thanks again for the review, and thank Eli as well. Glad he's enjoying it. :) |

I am such a naughty girl! I read this chapter but forgot to review it! I know it mentioned it before, but I love Neala. I think she's probably one of my favorite OCs in a long while. I really love how you have taken the time to really develop your OCs and make them as rich in personality as the canon characters. I like what you did with Neala too, you made her realistic, and likeable. It was a nice balance. I really like your Aragorn. and I love how he thought about Arwen amidst his surroundings. I like how little things triggered memories. Very well thought out and enjoyable to read.
Author's Response: Thank you, Roisin! I'm glad you like Neala so well, and thank you for the kind words about my OC's. I'm a little OCD about my OC's actually, and really think them out and make sure they're alive and living in all ways in my head before they stride into my stories. I cringe at shallow OC's and don't ever want to inflict that on my readers. And yes, it's those little things that would likely trigger Aragorn's thoughts to turn toward Arwen, poor guy. He had such a long wait for his lady love. Thanks for the review, and I forgive you for forgetting. *grin* |

Another really great chapter. I like how Aragorn wished to see to the widow. I like the interaction between Halbarad and Aragorn. The one part I REALLY liked where Aragorn was contimplating the darkness and thought it even felt "alive". Very creepy, but loved it. Your showing is exceptional. I really do feel like I'm there. I'm really wondering what is going to happen next!
Author's Response: Thanks, Roisin! I'm glad you liked this one, and it's little touch of creepiness... have to remind everyone that things aren't as well as Aragorn would like it to seem. And yeah, Halbarad and Aragorn going at it ... they're a little like a husband and wife who've been married forever. LOL Glad I left you wondering what's next, and thanks again for the review! |

Another great chapter that both Roisin and I enjoyed. Roisin is curious to see what Aragorn's revenge will be for the horse balm. We both like the dialogue between Aragorn and Halbarad. I'm starting to like Halbarad a lot. Roisin likes Denlad too. Roisin says your characters are really good. We eagerly await chapter 10. We're having a lot of fun reading this story together.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm impressed you made it through all these chapters in one day! I'm glad you're liking my characters, especially Denlad. OCs are always a risk in fanfiction, so I try to make mine as multi-dimensional as I can, and try to keep them as "Tolkien" as possible without borrowing too much from the canon characters. I don't want them to distract the readers from the canon characters, definitely. Thanks for the review! |

Roisin and I loved this chapter too. We both liked how you described Aragorn's experience with the black breath. It gives a new light to it and was interesting to see it in more depth. Roisin liked the visions a lot. I think I am beginnig to like Halbarad more and more.
Author's Response: Thanks, and yay, my plan is working--to get people to appreciate Halbarad! :) And yes, I've always thought the BB to be a lot more complex than it might have appeared in the books. Tolkien gave a lot of information about it, and I sort of took all of that and inflicted it on poor Aragorn. He's getting the full version of it, poor guy. Nasty stuff, the BB. |

Eli and Roisin | 02/07/09 07:31 pm | 8: Chapter 7 - For the Dead of Bracken's Ferry | Anonymous |
Roisin and I both agree this was one of the most exciting chapters so far. We were on edge the entire time we read it. I think it's more exciting than the weathertop scene in the FOTR movie. Roisin says I can't discredit Aragorn torching nazgul though because it's one of her favorite Aragorn moments in the movies. Roisin and I both felt like we were there. We both loved your description of the fray and of the nazgul. We both cheered on Halbarad at the end too. Please keep posting this story we love it.
Author's Response: Wow, thank you... I certainly put Aragorn in more peril than he experienced at Weathertop in the book or the movie, either one. And yes, I wanted to give Halbarad a hero moment. He deserves it. :) Thanks again! |
