Beautiful! Of course I can read that as the "normal" recollection of a parent thinking of his child and how the passage of time has left its mark. But someone I'm also getting the impression, that since Elrond is immortal and would perceive time differently than a human, for him both pretty much happens at the same time. He sees both the child and the man. He sees both what was lost (innocence) and gained (courage, the will to fight). That's simply beautiful, but also eternally sad. |
