I really enjoyed the charcterizations of Estel, Legolas, and Glorfindel in this story.  They were different than usually depicted in fanfiction.  I was feeling sorrier for Glorfindel than the other two; he must have lost a bet with Elrond or something, to be stuck taking them to Lorien with him!  :D  Glorfy's whip made me chuckle, and I guess that cave troll won't be gawking out through any rock holes in future.  The pacing is good, and the dialog flows well.  I want to see what happens when they get to Lorien, as I'm sure Galadriel won't put up with any nonsense!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for letting me know that you are enjoying this story. I think you will find Glorfindel's plight very interesting - I wanted to depict him in a little more depth than that which he is afforded in the book. And you will definitely end up feeling sorry for him as he is a tragic hero and slightly flawed character here.

I love writing Estel & Legolas - I think the way their relationship was portrayed in the movies spoke of some 'history' between them, so my stories are really an extrapolation of that.

I'm sure you will enjoy the Lorien scenes, but in the meantime, there is plenty more angst and drama to come!

I've been enjoying every chapter of this story. This was a particularly exciting chapter and Estels reaction at the end was befitting one who had just been through a traumatic situation. Loved it.

Author's Response:

Ah ha! I'm so pleased to hear that you are still reading! I thought I might lose a few readers with the shameless cliff-hanger at the end of Chapter 6. Thank you for your comments about the ending - I try to convey meaningful and true reactions in my stories as it helps readers to empathise with the characters.

There is plenty more angst and trauma to come in this story - and drama and humour too. So hang in there!

Oh, I do like the way you write and I daresay there's a touch of naughty mixed in pretty well. *g* Anyways, it's done in good fun and is pretty darn clever. Loving Estel in your stories, though he's certainly one petulant teenager! Looking forward to more.

Author's Response:

Thank you!

Oh yes there is plenty of banter and adolescent mischief in this story. Estel goes through a lot of harrowing but valuable experiences on this journey, and it's important that the readers register the change in him. He starts out as a basically amiable young man if a bit mouthy, but his inner doubts, fears and insecurities are brought to the surface as events unfold.

Some readers may struggle with this portrayal of Glorfindel - he's not very likeable (and it gets worse!) but there is a reason for his being the way he is, and all is revealed in the end.   There are clues scattered liberally as the story progresses.
