Sequel, yes! I rarely read fics with "only" Legolas in it, but you tricked me into it by always pretending Aragorn was just around the corner... Though, I must say, in the end I liked the fact that you didn't let them meet. Especially the end felt very poignant in that regard! Also, because you use so much Elvish (wow, very impressive!), have you thought about inlcuding the translations into the story itself? That needs a little html-knowledge (nothing that can't be mastered, though) and it will make reading easier. You can check out ElenaRoan's stories to see how that looks. I can give you the code for that... it's mostly a job of copy&paste.
Author's Response: Thanks for your vote of confidence - I'm so pleased to hear that you want to read more. I understand that you feel a bit let down that Aragorn didn't appear in person in this story, however I tried hard to make him an unseen 'presence' and demonstrate his influence over Legolas's thought and actions. I actually wrote the final scene of the story first I wanted something melancholy instead of a conventional conclusion. Thank you for your comments on the Elvish! I love using it - but I don't profess to be an expert! It takes me ages to be satisfied with it. I don't translate within the text because of my own personal preference - I don't like interrupting the flow of the dialogue. I do try to use phrases that are easy for readers to guess, or when I can I follow them with a line that explains what has been said. However, I will check out ElenaRoan's fics as you suggest - thanks for the tip. |
