This story got my first place vote at Teitho.  Congrats on a well-deserved first place.  I think the fact that the friendship between Legolas and Aragorn isn't portrayed as perfect makes it more realistic.

I love the whole idea of the arrow and the way it conveys meanings to both of them.  I also love Daria.  She's a wonderful character that I would love to see again.  Perhaps you could go back and tell us of the time she helped Legolas.  Well done.

This is going on my Ffavorites list.

*blush*... uh... many thanks...

... uhm, and yes, of course I know there is at least one story not told yet..., if ever it will come to me I will write it - I would want to know myself what happened, after all... :-)

I guess you know this got my first place vote. It was a wonderful read, full of terrific imagery. I found myself wanting to run get a big glass of ice water but not able to tear my eyes away until I had finished it. Great job, Michelle, and a much-deserved winner!

Author's Response:

No, I didn't. Nautika does the counting and I generally try to stay away from those mails - especially when I'm participating myself. It's so much more fun if you're as surprised as everyone else (it's bad enough that I know who wrote which story *g*).

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Making you long for some water was definitely the desired effect:)

I love this story.  It got my first place vote at Teitho, and I'm so happy it won!

The plot was original, and the descriptions.  It was easy to 'visualize' the physical and emotional elements of the story.

I love the way Aragorn dealt with the young man, when it would have been so easy to seek vengence, or at the least, just demand the ring back.

A wonderful tale, wonderfully told.  I put it on my favorites list. :o)

Author's Response: Thanks, White Wolf, both for this lovely review and for voting for the story!  Thanks especially for commenting on Aragorn's decision not to seek vengence--for me, that was a vital part of the story.  I see Aragorn as having a deep well of compassion.  One of my favorite places in the books that shows that side of him is in the way he deals with Beregond in Return of the King.  He could very well have followed the letter of the law and severely punished or even executed Beregond for drawing blood in the Citadel, even if it was done out of love for Faramir.  But I love how instead, he almost teases Beregond, implying that he'll be banished, but then actually rewards him by making him captain of Faramir's guard.  How can you not love a guy that does that???  So I love exploring, in smaller ways, that side of Aragorn.

I've read a number of 'first meeting' stories (I even wrote one myself), but this one is the most unique I've come across.

At first, I was a little indignant.  I thought both Legolas and Aragorn were very out-of-character with their behavior, and I was ready to get my dander up. :o)  But as the story progressed, it began to make more sense to me.  By the end of it, I was feeling a lot better about everything.

You have a very unusual take on how the two came to care for each other.  That's not necessarily a bad thing, by any means.  It certainly makes for interesting reading.

The story was very well told.  I've only read a couple of your stories (so far), but I've come to expect quality from you.  Well done.

Author's Response: Uh... thanks a lot... And thanks for giving it a chance even after a not so good start :-).

I fear I sometimes have a slight tendency to put them through rough beginnings/times in their friendship. I do see them as strong friends and great good characters (otherwise I'd not play with them in this way :-) ) but I like to explore the possibilities of misunderstandings, diversity on different levels, and such things. Must be my BSc Psy studies, they give me too many funny ideas, I guess :-).

Oh, and I have read your 'first meeting'-story also, and liked it a lot. It was not at NAN though (I checked a few months ago, because I wanted to review it), must have been at some other place, but I clearly remember that I read it when I came running into this fandom a year or so ago, because I love first meeting stories, and your pen-name got very stuck in my mind :-) - it's great.
