I'm just wasting time while I download articles for class and came across this story. At first I was skeptical because it is written with a different atmosphere than I am used to, much like a native american tribe used to live. However, I fell in love with it. You did an amazing job of conveying emotions and I love the horse. Nice job.

| I really liked this story. It was very well written and flowed smoothly.It was also cute and showed the depth that Aragorn and Legolas's friendship would someday get to. |

Saw this story mentioned over at the Yahoo group and just finished reading it. Excellent work; quite heartbreakingly realistic at times. The full-blown misery of a thirteen-year-old boy who can never seem to live up to the perfection of elves was beautifully done. The 'choosing' (both that of the horse and that of his friendship with Legolas) was interwoven magnificently. I was glad to see the insightfulness Estel showed at the end of the story, how much more important his choice to be a true friend was than that of being chosen by the horse. Simply wonderful. The race was reminscent of the nighttime 'tryout' Alec and The Black had in the "The Black Stallion" movie. That's always been one of my favorite parts of that movie because it offers a real glimpse into the sheer strength and fearlessness needed to control an animal like a horse. You seem to have quite a knowledge of horses, whereas as I, despite my love of horses, have only ridden a half dozen tiimes or so. Anyway, terrific story and I'm glad I took the time to read it.

Wow! What a great story! I especially loved the
attention to detail in terms of horse-training and
riding. The combination of realistic details and
believable emotions make this story a real keeper.

| I really like the story and the idea that the horses choose their rider, as we all know that (elvish) horses have a tight bond with their riders. I enjoyed this part: "The blood of kings stirred in him." And I liked the idea that Legolas and Estel have "choosen" each other, whether it was meant by you this way or not. Well, what more can I say? Only, it is brilliant. Author's Response: Thank you very much! This writing thing is new to me, but it's great fun, especially if someone reads your story. Although Estel is not an Elf, the unusually perceptive horse could recognize the king and the blood of Elros in Estel. The more important "choosing" was the one between Estel and Legolas, as you saw! (thank you for being so terribly perceptive!) |

| Wow, that was beautiful story! The Choosing ritual was a wonderful idea and since elves are supposed to have a close connection to nature it makes sense they would have a special connection to their horses as well. And I loved how you worked in the differences between different breeds (Estel's Arabian Horse and Glorfindel's Andalusian). And lastly I loved the hommage to "The Black Stallion", a movie I loved with all my heart when I was younger. An outstanding story, I hope you continue writing!!!
