How can I display translations of my Elvish dialogue? |
Most authors use one of the following two options where Elvish is concerned: Either translations are put in the chapter notes at the bottom of a story or the translation is provided right after the dialogue.
Since NAN allows html, you also have a third option to provide readers with translations for the Elvish you use. You can do that with a little html trick, turning the Elvish sentence in a fake link. When a reader hovers over the link, the translation will appear. It looks something like this.
To achieve this effect, do the following:
With TinyMCE
- Mark the passage you want to translate.
- Click Insert/Edit Link
- Choose the first tab, General.
- For Link, insert #
- For Title, insert your translation. For the text passage from the example above, the link information looks like this:
Without TinyMCE
- If the editor is off, add the following html around your text:
Many thanks to ElenaRoan who was the first to come up with this idea. The example here, is actually from her story "Unexpected".
